Combining Hope and Fear
There's just something about a spooky good time that gets me going...
Which is why I find it fitting to dive into Daggerheart to try out an upcoming campaign frame from the creator of Eberron.
Keith Baker and his co-author Jenn Ellis take us to Eidolon: The Ghost Market. This is a city built on ancient bones and sustained by bound spirits. Here - the past is always with you... your armor may be the ghost of a lost love and your mistlock pistol can strike an enemy with undying despair. The gate to Eidolon: The Ghost Market is open, and the Ancient Lords anticipate your arrival.
Keith Baker (Eberron) and Jenn Ellis (Illimat) are the designers and co-owners of Twogether Studios - and October has them launching the Backerkit for their Eidolon: The Ghost Market Campaign Frame for Daggerheart.
Welcome to The City of Ghosts
Eidolon is a haunted city, equal parts Sweeney Todd, Dracula, and Neuromancer. Industry is driven by necromancy; the coaches on the streets are pulled by poltergeists and the lamps are lit with fingerbones. It’s shrouded in gloom and people need hope—and that’s why they need you.
This is a gothic city of theaters, gardens, and grand estates. Underneath, it runs on the dead and the suffering of those that once lived. The Ancient Lords who rule the city are immortal, cruel, and very rich, and they've noticed something useful: people who die miserable leave stronger ghosts behind.
In Eidolon, even dying isn't a way out.
But there are those who fight this terrible situation by striving to keep forgotten horrors at bay while finding something worth fighting for.
This Spooky Season we will be running the Catering Crew campaign frame for Eidolon: The Ghost Market. The player characters are professional exorcists posing as a catering crew at a gathering of dangerous villains.
Their mission? Put an ancient and malevolent spirit to sleep without alerting the masters of the city.
This will require skilled subterfuge, clever distractions, and a bit of luck...
So come join us at our new location to roll some dice and have some fun this spooky season!
We Face The Dark With Others
Many cultures mark this time of year by turning toward the dead, and many of those blend gloom and celebration. Families building ofrendas for Día de los Muertos set out favorite foods, photos, and marigolds to welcome loved ones home. Samhain marked the turn from harvest into the dark half of the year, when the line between worlds was said to run thin. And Halloween is a whole neighborhood dressing up as the things that scare us and laughing about it together. Food, music, company, and a little mischief in the face of death.
This season reminds us that we face the gloom together... so come on down and join us for a fun time!
